China International Big Data Industry Expo 2026 opens in Guiyang

The 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo officially opened in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, on August 28. Themed ‘Token: A New Path to Value of Data Elements’, the event serves as a major platform for technological exchange in the global big data sector, featuring over 370 exhibitors and approximately 16,000 participants.

The expo focuses on five core areas: computing power infrastructure, data supply, model-driven development, security assurance, and intelligent experience. Industry leaders highlighted the rapid growth of the digital economy, noting that China's intelligent computing now accounts for over 98% of the region's total computing power. Hu Jianbo, President of the National Data Development Research Institute, reported that China's agent patent authorizations exceeded 3,400 in 2025, marking a significant increase in innovation.

Technological discussions at the event emphasized the transition from traditional data management to AI-ready infrastructure. Huawei Cloud presented advancements in ‘digital employees’ and agentic AI, while other sessions explored the reconstruction of the data value chain to support large language models and autonomous agents. The region of Guiyang and the Gui'an New Area continue to develop as a world-class digital industrial cluster, boasting 26 large-scale data centers with a total computing capacity exceeding 174 EFLOPS.
