China delivers massive domestically designed ethane-ethylene carrier

China has officially delivered a massive ethane-ethylene carrier designed and manufactured domestically. Developed by Jiangnan Shipyard under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the vessel measures 230 meters in length with a capacity of 99,000 cubic meters.

The ship is specialized for transporting industrial gases, including ethane, ethylene, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). It has been handed over to Agricultural Bank of China Financial Leasing and Pacific Gas (Hong Kong).

Designed for long-range transport with low fuel consumption and maintenance costs, the vessel features ethane-powered generators and main engines. According to project design leader Yuan Shizhen, this technology can reduce sulfur emissions by up to 99% and hydrocarbon emissions by 18%, supporting domestic petrochemical enterprises with more environmentally friendly transport solutions.
