China deploys J-10C fighter jets for military exercises in Thailand

The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) has deployed J-10C fighter jets to Thailand to participate in the Falcon Strike 2026 joint military exercises. This marks a significant tactical engagement as the Chinese single-engine jets operate alongside the Royal Thai Air Force's Western-made Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighters.

The exercises focus on combined force tactics, including air defense, target identification, and mission coordination within complex modern warfare environments. The deployment includes a diverse contingent of Chinese military assets, such as Y-20 strategic transport aircraft, early warning aircraft, aerial tankers, and ground-based air defense systems.

This ninth edition of Falcon Strike, and the fifth held on Thai soil, highlights the expanding military partnership and security cooperation between China and Southeast Asian nations. The training emphasizes logistical support, the protection of transport aircraft, and combat medical evacuations.
