China deploys snake-shaped robot for power line inspections
A snake-shaped robot has been deployed to inspect 10-kilovolt power lines in Kunming, the capital of China's Yunnan Province. Developed by the Kunming Power Supply Bureau of the China Southern Power Grid, the robot is designed to navigate obstacles autonomously along power cables.
The device is equipped with infrared, thermal imaging, and laser sensors, allowing it to detect damaged wires, abnormal heat, and other potential hazards. This technology is intended to improve the efficiency of power grid maintenance and reduce the need for dangerous manual inspections at high altitudes.
Separately, during China's National Day celebrations, various multifunctional robots featuring artificial intelligence were utilized in commercial and cultural events across the country to provide interactive experiences for tourists and visitors.
