China establishes 200 AI standards and targets 6G development

China has established nearly 200 key standards for the artificial intelligence sector to ensure orderly and robust development. According to Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), AI is now integrated across the entire value chain, including research, design, manufacturing, and maintenance. Various cities are also implementing ethical reviews and service practices related to AI applications.

Looking toward the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), the Chinese government intends to accelerate the development of 6G technology through continuous testing and standard-setting to prepare for commercial deployment. Additionally, Beijing is prioritizing brain-computer interface technology, aiming to formulate or revise over 40 standards by 2028 to compete with global leaders like Neuralink. This push is part of a broader strategy to nurture emerging industries such as quantum technology, robotics, and bio-manufacturing.
