China dominates US toy market with 78% of imports

China remains the dominant supplier for the United States toy market, accounting for 78.3% of all toys imported into the country in 2024. These imports reached a total value of $9.8 billion.

Manufacturing is concentrated in regions like Guangdong province. In cities such as Dongguan, factories like Mihox employ hundreds of workers to produce millions of units annually, with the American market representing roughly half of their business. The production process involves complex design cycles that can last up to two years, followed by mold creation and several months of manufacturing.

Logistics play a critical role in the supply chain, with shipping from Chinese ports like Shenzhen taking between 15 days to reach the US West Coast and up to 30 days to reach the East Coast. Final retail prices are influenced by these transport costs and current import tariffs, which stand at 12.5%.
