Russian auto market sees surge in Chinese brand dominance and parts imports
The Russian automotive market saw significant activity in July, with total sales reaching 122,100 units, a 1.2% year-on-year increase. Local brand Lada maintained the top position with 29,227 units sold, representing a 23.9% market share.
Chinese manufacturers have established a dominant presence, securing seven of the top ten spots in monthly sales. Haval ranked second with 15,606 units, a 19% increase, followed by the emerging local brand Tenet in third. Other notable Chinese brands in the top ten include Geely, Changan, Belgee, Chery, and GAC.
Parallel to vehicle sales, imports of automotive parts from China to Russia have reached record levels. Between January and July, these imports grew by approximately 15%, totaling $1.3 billion. Industry experts attribute this growth to the rising volume of Chinese vehicles in the region, which necessitates a steady supply of original manufacturer parts for maintenance and repair.
