China economic development new momentum index rises 12.5% to 153.0

China's economic development new momentum index reached 153.0 in 2025, representing a 12.5% increase from the previous year. This growth is driven by accelerated industrial transformation, innovation-led development, and a robust digital economy.

Key drivers include a 22.7% rise in the transformation and upgrading index, supported by high-tech manufacturing and the expansion of strategic emerging industries. Notably, exports of 'new three' products—electric vehicles, photovoltaic products, and lithium batteries—approached 1.3 trillion yuan, a 27.1% increase. Electric vehicle exports alone grew by 73.1%.

Innovation efforts saw R&D expenditure reach 3.9 trillion yuan, an 8.1% increase. Additionally, the network economy index rose by 10.8%, bolstered by 5G infrastructure expansion and significant growth in e-commerce transactions.
