China electricity demand hits record peak as Guangdong surpasses 100 billion kWh

China has reached a new historic peak in electricity demand, driven by high summer temperatures and continuous economic growth. The National Energy Administration (NEA) reported that the peak reached 1.56 billion kilowatts, marking the fourth record since the start of summer.

Guangdong province has become the first province in China to exceed 100 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity consumption in a single month, recording 100.798 billion kWh in July. Between January and July, the province's total consumption reached 572.28 billion kWh, a 7.67% year-on-year increase.
