China expands renewable energy footprint with new solar and hydrogen projects

China is advancing significant renewable energy infrastructure both domestically and internationally. In Jiangsu Province, the Guohua Rudong 400 MW integrated solar-hydrogen-storage project has officially connected its energy storage facility to the grid. This facility is the largest of its kind in China, featuring a 60 MW / 120 MWh capacity designed to balance the grid by converting excess solar power into hydrogen during peak production and discharging electricity during peak demand.

In South America, PowerChina has successfully commissioned a 96.9 MW photovoltaic project in the Nazca Province of Peru. The project, which completed operations three days ahead of schedule, is expected to generate approximately 250 million kWh annually, meeting the needs of about 230,000 Peruvian households. This development follows recent legislative changes in Peru that have improved the economic viability of renewable energy and storage solutions by allowing for separate pricing of energy capacity and auxiliary services.
