China extends investigations into U.S. trade barriers until December

China's Ministry of Commerce has announced an extension for two ongoing investigations into United States trade barriers. The probes, which target practices perceived to disrupt global industrial and supply chains as well as actions obstructing the trade of green products, were originally scheduled to conclude sooner but will now continue until December 27, 2026.

The decision to extend the investigation period was attributed to the complexity of the cases. These investigations were initially launched in March 2026 in response to U.S. actions regarding overproduction and goods linked to forced labor, which China has characterized as “political manipulation.”

The extension follows a recent state visit to Washington where leaders from both nations agreed to extend a trade truce and committed to reducing tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods on each side. The current trade truce is set to remain in effect until January 10.
