China foreign trade grows 17.3% driven by high-tech exports

China's foreign trade experienced strong growth during the first seven months of the year, with total imports and exports reaching 30.13 trillion yuan, a 17.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

A significant driver of this growth was the high-tech sector, which saw exports rise by more than 50% in July, accounting for approximately 60% of the overall export increase. Notably, import growth reached 22%, outperforming export growth for the fifth consecutive month and signaling a more balanced trade structure.

Experts attribute this performance to China's comprehensive industrial system, technological innovation, and competitive pricing. While the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts a global trade slowdown to 3.5% in 2026, China continues to expand its market reach through zero-tariff policies applied to 63 countries and its position as the world's second-largest importer.
