GIIAS Bandung 2026 opens with 19 automotive brands

The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) Bandung 2026 officially opened on September 9 at the Sudirman Grand Ballroom. Now in its fourth year, the exhibition features 19 automotive brands, including 16 passenger vehicle manufacturers and three motorcycle brands.

Major manufacturers are using the event to showcase electric vehicle (EV) technology. Chery Indonesia is presenting its “Chery House” concept with models like the Chery Q, while GAC is promoting its Aion and Hyptec lines. Changan is showcasing the Deepal S05 and Nevo Q05, and BAIC Indonesia is introducing its first electric vehicle in the country, the BAIC T1. Honda is also participating with its Super-ONE and HR-V Mugen editions.

The West Java provincial government expressed support for the event, noting that the region's economic growth reached 5.73 percent in Q2 2026. To encourage automotive transactions, the local government is offering incentives, including a 10 percent discount on motor vehicle ownership transfer fees (BBNKB) and a 10 percent discount on annual vehicle taxes.
