China holds State Council and National People's Congress meetings

Chinese Premier Li Qiang presided over a State Council executive meeting to implement directives from Xi Jinping regarding economic performance for the first half of the year and strategies for the second half. The meeting emphasized strengthening confidence in economic development, improving macro-policy efficiency, and expanding domestic demand through major projects and infrastructure, specifically focusing on the construction of new power grids and logistics networks.

Key legislative and administrative actions included the approval of drafts to amend the Housing Provident Fund Management Regulations and several other administrative regulations. Additionally, the State Council approved four new nuclear power projects, including the first phase of the Zhuanghe project in Liaoning, emphasizing adherence to the highest global safety standards.

Separately, the 24th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress concluded in Beijing. The session passed several laws, including the Medical Insurance Law and a revised Agricultural Law. Personnel changes were also announced, including the appointment of Li Changguan as Minister of Civil Affairs and various adjustments within the Central Military Commission and the Supreme People's Court.
