China hosts 47th World Congress of Vine and Wine in Ningxia
The 47th World Congress of Vine and Wine has opened in Yinchuan, Ningxia, marking the first time the event has been held in Asia. Running from October 12 to 16, the congress brings together hundreds of global participants to discuss the future of the vine and wine sector.
Themed around transformation, innovation, and sustainability, the event features a scientific program covering viticulture, wine production, economics, law, and health. Key topics include wine dealcoholization, new stabilization technologies, disease-resistant grape varieties, and ecological production methods to address climate change and technological shifts.
OIV Director General John Barker noted that the congress represents a new chapter in China’s engagement with the global sector following its recent membership in the organization. Alongside the congress, the 24th OIV General Assembly will convene to address scientific, technical, and administrative matters.
