China hosts major robotics and intelligent design competitions
Recent robotics and automation competitions in China have highlighted advancements in intelligent design and operating systems. In Tongxiang, Zhejiang, the national finals for the 2025-2026 National Youth Labor Skills and Intelligent Design Competition were held from August 7 to 9. Organized by the Chinese Automation Society, the event drew nearly 130,000 participants from 31 provinces and regions, with over 10,000 finalists competing in scenarios such as intelligent programming and emergency rescue.
In Shenzhen, the AIY Hackathon 2026 concluded with the Shian Gauge team winning first place in the M-Robots OS Robot Intelligent Collaborative Innovation Challenge. The competition, hosted by institutions including the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, utilized the M-Robots OS—an operating system built on the OpenHarmony foundation—to test multi-device coordination and AI agent capabilities. Winning projects demonstrated practical applications, such as a dual-machine collaborative system designed to detect and manage safety hazards in kindergarten environments.
