Beijing Xiangshan Forum opens to discuss global security

The 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum is currently underway in Beijing, running from September 15 to 17. Marking its 20th anniversary, the event focuses on the theme “Build Consensus on Stability, Advance Security Governance Together.” The forum has attracted nearly 100 official delegations from various countries, regions, and international organizations, including over 60 representatives at the ministerial or chief of staff level.

Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun opened the forum, emphasizing the military's willingness to cooperate globally to address security challenges and promote regional stability. Discussions at the forum cover critical issues such as international order, strategic stability, regional hotspots, military technology, and the rule of law in international relations. The event is viewed as a significant platform for Chinese military diplomacy and a counterpart to the Shangri-La Dialogue.

In related military developments, China recently concluded the “Maritime Cooperation-2026” joint exercise with Singapore near Zhanjiang, Guangdong. Additionally, China, Russia, and Mongolia completed the “Border Cooperation-2026” joint drill near Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia, signaling a new stage of “deep integration” in trilateral border cooperation.
