China imposes export controls on ten US defense and rare‑earth firms

China's Ministry of Commerce announced new export controls targeting ten US companies active in defense, aerospace and rare‑earth sectors. The measures prohibit Chinese exporters from supplying dual‑use goods to these firms and extend to any organisation worldwide that transfers such items to the listed entities. The decision is a direct response to Washington's recent expansion of a blacklist of Chinese companies alleged to have military links. Separately, China's Ministry of Finance barred its public agencies from purchasing products from 46 US firms, including subsidiaries of Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics. The sanctions follow a month after US President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing and after the US Defense Department added major Chinese firms such as Alibaba, Baidu and BYD to its own restricted list. The ten US companies named are AVEOX, Red Cat Holdings, Teal Drones, IMSAR, Jaia Robotics, Ball Aerospace & Technologies, Oshkosh Defense, L3Harris Maritime Services, MP Materials and USA Rare Earth.
