China imposes new export bans and public‑procurement blocks on US firms

On 22 June 2026 Chinese ministries announced coordinated retaliation against the United States, targeting American defence, aerospace and technology companies. The Ministry of Commerce added ten U.S. firms to an export‑control list, imposing an outright ban on the export and transfer of dual‑use goods to them. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Finance issued a decree prohibiting 46 U.S. firms, including subsidiaries of Lockheed Martin, Boeing, General Atomics and General Dynamics, from participating in Chinese state procurement, with an exception for companies legally established and operating in China.

The measures are presented as a response to recent U.S. actions that placed about 80 Chinese technology firms, such as Alibaba, Baidu and BYD, on a blacklist for alleged military support. Analysts note the bans could disrupt global supply chains and pose enforcement challenges, while signalling a deepening trade conflict between the two powers.
