China integrates AI tokens into banking, telecom, and e-commerce
Chinese financial institutions, telecommunications carriers, and e-commerce platforms are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence tokens and subscriptions into consumer and business products.
On Alibaba’s Tmall platform, an “AI Space Station” has been launched, allowing users to purchase AI subscriptions and top up tokens from developers such as Zhipu AI, MiniMax, and DeepSeek. Following the opening of Zhipu AI’s storefront, transactions involving AI tokens and subscriptions on Taobao and Tmall reportedly increased by over 160 percent within 48 hours.
In the banking and telecom sectors, the Agricultural Bank of China and Moonshot AI have introduced an AI-native credit card. Meanwhile, China Telecom has begun trialing token packages for developers, small businesses, and households. In Guangzhou’s Haizhu district, local authorities have implemented “Token Loans,” where banks incorporate token consumption and platform qualifications into credit reviews for AI companies rather than relying solely on physical assets.
