China Intellectual Property Annual Conference held in Beijing
The 15th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference was held in Beijing on September 8-9, 2026. The event, themed “Striving to Promote the High-Quality Development of Intellectual Property in the ‘15th Five-Year Plan’ Period,” gathered over 8,000 representatives from government sectors, international organizations, research institutes, universities, and global enterprises.
Key discussions focused on the intersection of intellectual property and emerging technologies, specifically addressing the challenges of AI-driven innovation and data security. The conference also addressed global governance issues, including the management of Standard Essential Patents (SEP) and the implementation of the revised Trademark Law scheduled for 2027.
To support the international expansion of Chinese companies, the conference provided platforms for discussing global IP strategies, risk prevention, and the FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) principle. International cooperation was highlighted through sessions involving the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Trademark Association (INTA), aiming to enhance China's voice in global intellectual property governance.
