China Digital Publishing Expo to feature traditional culture in gaming
The 16th China International Digital Publishing Expo is scheduled to take place from August 27 to 29 in Jinan, Shandong province. For the first time, the event will feature an exhibition area dedicated to integrating traditional Chinese culture with online video games.
This focus follows the success of titles like ‘Black Myth: Wukong’, which have utilized technological advancements to revitalize cultural heritage through creative digital media. The Chinese domestic gaming market saw significant growth in 2025, generating over 350 billion yuan (approximately 52 billion USD) in sales, with a user base reaching 683 million.
The expo expects over 500 exhibitors, including delegations from 20 Chinese provinces and participants from more than 30 countries. Additionally, the Chinese Academy of Press and Publishing will present interim results regarding the formulation of industry standards for artificial intelligence applications. The event will include a main forum, six thematic forums, and over 80 side activities covering topics such as human-machine collaboration and global academic communication.
