More than 1,200 companies from 99 countries and regions have signed up for the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE), pushing the contracted exhibition space to over 340,000 square metres, or 95% of the planned target. The expo, scheduled for November 5‑10, will feature six main zones covering technology, medical devices, consumer goods, food, automobiles and services, plus a new Global National Brand zone. Notable participants include French pharma group Pierre Fabre, Singapore’s Perennial Holdings, Dutch chemical firm AkzoNobel, U.S. fashion brand Ralph Lauren, steel leader ArcelorMittal and Belgian chocolatier Godiva. The event will host delegations from 57 countries and three international organisations, with Moldova, Romania and the United Nations Development Programme attending for the first time; Canada returns as guest of honour.
During the 100‑day countdown ceremony, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau Wu Zhengping announced that the upcoming tenth edition has already begun recruiting, with 68 firms signing early contracts covering more than 50,000 square metres. Companies such as L’Oréal, Roche, Samsung, HSBC and Honda joined the roster, continuing a streak of repeat participation since the expo’s inception. The expo aims to broaden trade links, increase imports and support balanced trade growth under the themes “Export to China”, “Shopping in China” and “Invest in China”.
