China International Import Expo to be held in Shanghai this November

The ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) is scheduled to take place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. Preparations for the event have reached a milestone, with an expected participation of 162 countries, regions, and international organizations, alongside 4,142 overseas enterprises. The exhibition area will exceed 440,000 square meters, with exhibitor space alone surpassing 370,000 square meters.

Key highlights for this edition include over 480 products making their global, Asian, or Chinese debuts. The event will also feature more than 300 Fortune Global 500 and industry leader companies. To support technological needs, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) has completed a network upgrade to provide full Wi-Fi 7 coverage, capable of supporting up to 100,000 simultaneous users.

On the policy front, China's Ministry of Commerce noted that starting May 1, 2026, zero-tariff treatment will be fully implemented for all products from 53 African countries with which China has diplomatic relations. This move aims to facilitate trade and expand the reach of high-quality African products, such as coffee and agricultural goods, into the Chinese market.
