China issues new policies for digital economy and sports consumption
China has issued new regional and national directives aimed at stimulating economic growth through digital infrastructure and sports consumption.
In Shanghai's Qingpu District, authorities have announced the 2026 special application notice for digital economy and intelligent construction. The program includes subsidies for computing power rental costs incurred during research and development. Additionally, the district will offer ‘no-application-required’ rewards for blockchain applications and the use of high-quality datasets.
At the national level, the General Office of the State Council released the ‘Opinions on Developing Sports Events to Stimulate Consumption Vitality’. The policy aims to build a modernized sports event system with Chinese characteristics by 2030. Key objectives include fostering world-class sporting brands, integrating sports with tourism and technology, and expanding consumption scenarios to drive domestic demand and economic development.
