China issues wide‑scale flood warnings in Heilongjiang and across key river basins

On July 8 the Heilongjiang Provincial Water Resources Department and Meteorological Bureau released yellow and blue flood risk alerts for mountain torrents and small‑river flooding in dozens of counties, urging close monitoring, early evacuations and reinforced safety measures.

The Ministry of Water Resources convened a briefing on July 7 to assess the impacts of typhoons Mesak and Bawei. It outlined flood‑defence actions for the Pearl River, Yangtze, Huai, Yellow, Hai and Songliao basins, stressing reservoir safety, dam‑level monitoring, dike inspections and rapid response to rising water levels as the storms move toward China’s eastern coast.

Both agencies highlighted the need for coordinated alert dissemination, field patrols in high‑risk areas and preparedness to protect lives and property amid the projected heavy rains.
