Asian Games 2026 women's cricket quarter-finals rain-affected match semi-finals

The Women's cricket quarter-finals at the Asian Games 2026 have seen significant weather disruptions at Korogi Sports Park in Japan.

Bangladesh secured a place in the semi-finals without playing a single ball after their quarter-final match against China was abandoned due to a wet outfield. Under tournament rules, Bangladesh progressed because of their higher ICC T20I ranking. They are scheduled to face the winner of the India versus Japan match in the semi-finals on September 20.

In the second quarter-final, Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals after a tense, rain-shortened three-wicket victory over Thailand. The match was reduced to 11 overs per side. Thailand posted 91/4, led by Nannapat Koncharoenkai's 49. Pakistan successfully chased the revised target of 92, aided by Fatima Sana's bowling (2/22) and a crucial 21 runs from her bat, as well as Shawaal Zulfiqar's 25.

India is set to face host nation Japan in the final quarter-final on September 18. The Indian team, coming off a Women's Asia Cup victory, remains a top contender for the gold medal.
