China launches 2026 National Cybersecurity Awareness Week

China has launched the 2026 National Cybersecurity Awareness Week, focusing on the theme of safeguarding the intelligent era. The event, organized by ten departments including the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Education, emphasizes the security, reliability, and controllability of artificial intelligence technologies.

Key developments include the release of the ‘Artificial Intelligence Security Governance Framework 3.0’ by the National Cybersecurity Standardization Technical Committee. Additionally, the ‘Chinese Internet Foundation Corpus 4.0’ was introduced to provide 120GB of credible data for large model training. Industry leaders from China Mobile and China Unicom highlighted the need for integrated defense systems to combat cross-domain risks and AI-driven fraud.

Educational initiatives are also a priority. A report on minors' internet usage revealed that 78.5% of underage netizens use AI for learning or entertainment, often lacking the ability to identify algorithmic bias or ethical boundaries. In response, institutions like the Harbin Institute of Technology are organizing creative competitions for videos and posters to promote cybersecurity literacy among students.
