China launches $525M e-commerce logistics hub near Vietnam border
China has established a massive e-commerce pilot zone in Hekou, Yunnan Province, covering over 660,000 square meters with a total investment of $525 million. Located adjacent to the Vietnamese border, the China-ASEAN E-commerce Pilot Zone serves as a hub for collecting domestic products and distributing them internationally.
Key services provided by the facility include online delivery, retail livestreaming, customs declaration, inspection, and the processing and transit of domestic and international parcels.
The Lao Cai Department of Industry and Trade noted that while local Vietnamese manufacturers will face increased competition from massive inflows of Chinese consumer goods via cross-border e-commerce, the facility also presents opportunities. Vietnamese specialty products, such as coffee and OCOP items, could utilize this logistics network to reach the large Chinese consumer market.
