China launches cybersecurity review of Palo Alto Networks products

On August 6, the Chinese Network Security Review Office announced that it is conducting a cybersecurity review of products sold in China by Palo Alto Networks. The review is carried out under the National Security Law and the Cybersecurity Law to protect the stability of critical information infrastructure and to prevent security risks.

Palo Alto Networks, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, provides AI‑driven security platforms, next‑generation firewalls, cloud‑delivered services and threat‑intelligence solutions. The company went public in 2012, raising $2.6 billion, and now serves customers in more than 150 countries and over 85,000 organizations. The Chinese review could affect the company’s ability to sell its security solutions in the Chinese market.

The announcement cites the need to safeguard national security and the reliable operation of key information systems, but no specific findings or actions have been disclosed yet.
