China-made Ferris wheel arrives in Mato Grosso for assembly

A massive Ferris wheel manufactured in China has arrived in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, for assembly in the Chapada dos Guimarães region. Standing 108 meters tall, the structure is expected to be the largest in Latin America, surpassing São Paulo’s Roda Rico.

The complex logistics operation spanned eight months and over 21,400 kilometers. The components traveled from the Chinese ports of Shanghai and Taicang to the Port of Santos via five ships, followed by a 1,400-kilometer land journey using 80 trucks. A major technical challenge involved transporting the 70-ton, 16-meter-long central axis, which required specialized planning to avoid damaging road infrastructure.

Part of the Parque Novo Mato Grosso project commissioned by the state government, the attraction will feature 42 glass cabins, each holding eight people, for a total capacity of 336 passengers per rotation. Each full cycle is estimated to take between 30 and 35 minutes, offering panoramic views of the region.
