China manufacturing PMI rises to 50.1 percent in September
China's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 50.1 percent in September, a 0.3 percentage point increase from the previous month, signaling an entry into expansionary territory. Data released by the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing shows that 12 out of 21 surveyed industries reported PMIs above the critical threshold.
The manufacturing production index reached 51.7 percent, up 1.3 percentage points from the prior month, while the new orders index stood at 50.5 percent. Although the new orders index saw a slight decrease of 0.1 percentage points, both metrics remained above the expansion threshold, indicating improvements in production and market demand.
Rising international commodity prices and increased demand in certain sectors have contributed to a two-month rise in both the raw material purchase price index and the ex-factory price index. Additionally, the non-manufacturing business activity index rose to 50.2 percent, up 1.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a significant improvement in the non-manufacturing business environment.
