China marks 77th anniversary with diplomatic ties in Mali and Sri Lanka

The People’s Republic of China is commemorating its 77th anniversary, marking a period of diplomatic engagement with various nations.

In Sri Lanka, discussions have centered on the historical connection between the two nations and China’s role as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. While the UN Human Rights Council has called for accountability and institutional reforms in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan government has emphasized its domestic reforms and economic resilience, dismissing the need for external accountability mechanisms.

In Mali, government officials gathered in Bamako to celebrate the anniversary and reaffirm a 66-year partnership. Malian ministers, including the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Moussa Alassane Diallo, expressed congratulations to President Xi Jinping. The relationship has been elevated to a strategic partnership, with cooperation spanning infrastructure, agriculture, health, education, and energy.
