China marks 77th National Day with diplomatic receptions in Sarawak and Jeddah

Diplomatic receptions were held in Kuching and Jeddah to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

In Sarawak, Deputy Premier Dr Sim Kui Hian represented the state government at a reception hosted by China's Consul General, Xing Weiping. Dr Sim highlighted the importance of the Malaysia-China partnership, noting that cooperation has expanded from traditional trade into energy, infrastructure, technology, healthcare, and tourism. He emphasized the historical role of the Chinese community in Sarawak's socio-economic development.

In Jeddah, the Chinese Consulate General hosted a ceremony attended by the Governor of Jeddah, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi. Consul General Yang Yi noted the growing strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia, specifically citing the synergy between the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative and ‘Saudi Vision 2030’. Discussions focused on advancements in artificial intelligence, new energy, and infrastructure, alongside a commitment to regional security and stability.
