China Mid-Autumn Festival film box office exceeds 100 million yuan

The Chinese film market has seen a significant surge during the Mid-Autumn Festival period, with total box office revenues exceeding 100 million yuan. A total of 16 films are part of this holiday lineup, a higher volume than in previous years.

A major driver of this success is the re-release of “Avengers: Endgame (Enhanced Appreciation Version).” This version includes four minutes of new footage that reportedly sets the stage for “Avengers 5.” On the first day of the Mid-Autumn period, the film accounted for approximately 18% of screen shares but captured over 40% of the box office, earning nearly 40 million yuan.

Other notable films contributing to the market activity include the domestic production “Dunhuang Hero,” a realistic historical action film, and “Old Jianghu,” starring Tony Leung and Carina Lau. The holiday period features a diverse range of genres, including suspense, comedy, animation, and drama, catering to a wide audience during the dual Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday season.
