China Ministry of Commerce opposes potential U.S. tariffs

China's Ministry of Commerce has responded to reports that the United States is considering imposing additional 7.5% tariffs on Chinese imports based on allegations of overcapacity. New Ministry spokesperson Huang Ling stated that such actions are typical examples of unilateralism and protectionism, noting that the U.S. Section 301 investigation into 16 economies politicizes economic issues. China has expressed its opposition and maintains the right to take all necessary measures in response.

In related economic developments, the State Council Information Office is scheduled to hold a press conference regarding the progress of China's service trade and preparations for the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services. Additionally, domestic fuel prices in China are expected to undergo a new round of adjustments on August 28.
