China Ministry of Public Security releases cybersecurity enforcement cases

China's Ministry of Public Security has released 10 typical cases of administrative law enforcement regarding cybersecurity. These cases highlight failures in data security, personal information protection, and network safety management across various sectors and regions, including Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shandong, Guangxi, and Sichuan.

As part of the ‘Hu Wang—2026’ special operation, authorities have conducted over 7,900 inspections, identifying and rectifying approximately 38,000 security vulnerabilities. The enforcement actions include penalizing companies for failing to implement data protection measures, leaving system vulnerabilities unaddressed, and failing to prevent the unauthorized collection of personal information.

In a related effort to promote public awareness, the 2026 National Cybersecurity Awareness Week has launched in Taiyuan, Shanxi. The event, themed ‘Cybersecurity for the People, Cybersecurity by the People,’ features interactive demonstrations on AI fraud, malicious apps, and secure WiFi to enhance public risk identification skills and support the digital economy.
