China Open badminton tournament crowns Japanese women's champion and Taiwanese men's champion
Japan's Akane Yamaguchi defeated China's Chen Yufei 21‑18, 21‑16 in the women's singles final of the BWF Super 1000 China Open, securing her third title of the season. Yamaguchi, world No. 3, also overcame fellow Japanese Wang Zhiyi in the semifinals, extending her head‑to‑head lead over Chen to 24‑3.
Taiwan's Chou Tien‑chen won the men's singles final, beating France's Toma Popov to become the oldest champion in Super 1000 history at 36 years and 199 days. The victory marked the first time a home‑grown Taiwanese player has captured the China Open men's title and continued Chou's streak of winning a tournament each season.
