China outlines innovation and green focus in 15th Five-Year Plan

At the World Economic Forum’s 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, Chinese officials detailed the 15th Five-Year Plan for 2026‑2030. The plan centers on boosting innovation, expanding domestic consumption, upgrading industry and accelerating the green energy transition, while maintaining an outward‑looking stance.

Experts highlighted the shift from an export‑ and investment‑driven model to “high‑quality development.” Guo Lanfeng of the China Society of Economic Reform stressed the need for better jobs and higher household incomes, while Adam Tooze of Columbia University remarked, “I could not recall a five‑year plan watched as closely as this one.” The plan is expected to guide businesses, investors and global partners as China navigates demographic changes and evolving supply‑chain dynamics.
