China overtakes Germany as Poland's top goods supplier
Chinese automotive manufacturers are rapidly expanding their global footprint and domestic market share. Within China, the market share for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including electric and plug-in hybrid models, is projected to reach 80 percent by 2026, significantly displacing non-Chinese brands like Volkswagen and Toyota.
On an international scale, China has become a leading global vehicle exporter. Major players such as Chery and BYD have recorded substantial export volumes. This expansion is notably impacting European markets; in July 2026, China became the largest supplier of goods to Poland, surpassing Germany for the first time.
This shift is driven largely by the rising popularity of Chinese passenger vehicles in Poland, where 15 of the top 50 most chosen brands originate from China. While this reflects high consumer demand for models like the MG ZS, the National Bank of Poland notes that the surge in imports is contributing to a widening trade deficit and an outflow of capital from the Polish economy.
