China pledges expanded development support for Liberia

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Liberian Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung Sr. met in Shanghai to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. China has reaffirmed its willingness to support several of Liberia’s key development priorities, including infrastructure, electricity, healthcare, agriculture, broadcasting, and professional training.

Vice President Koung identified several priority sectors requiring technical and financial cooperation to address Liberia's infrastructure deficits and unreliable electricity. He specifically highlighted the need for affordable power to support economic growth and public services, welcoming potential Chinese cooperation in solar energy, battery storage, hydropower, and rural electrification.
