China promotes AI cooperation and medical innovation at BRICS Summit

During the 18th BRICS Summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for increased cooperation and innovation among member nations regarding artificial intelligence. He advocated for an approach based on openness and shared development to ensure these countries become major players in the technological revolution.

China has prioritized AI research in several key sectors, including intelligent manufacturing, industrial applications, and healthcare. Notable advancements include work by Professor Li Yuanqing’s team at the South China University of Technology on brain-machine interfaces. Their research has led to the development of intelligent wheelchairs that use brain signals, head movements, and eye blinks to assist individuals with disabilities in regaining autonomy.

Additionally, Chinese researchers are exploring AI-driven personalized medical monitoring. These innovations include systems designed to analyze sleep patterns and support wellness practices, aiming to make medical solutions more accessible through digital technologies and remote services.
