China Railway Construction Corp seeks new investments in Papua New Guinea
Senior executives of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) met with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape and Petroleum Minister Jimmy Maladina in Port Moresby. The delegation, led by Vice‑President Sun Liquang, discussed expanding CRCC’s portfolio beyond construction into ship and boat building, slipway facilities, mining and the petroleum sector. Technical teams are already conducting feasibility studies and due‑diligence work, with the PNG government welcoming proposals that could create jobs, develop local industry and transfer skills.
CRCC, one of the world’s largest integrated construction and engineering firms, operates in more than 130 countries, is listed in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and has a market capitalisation of about US$15 billion. The PNG authorities said the talks reflect growing international confidence in the country’s long‑term investment potential and reaffirmed their readiness to work with credible partners on mutually beneficial terms.
