China railways record 954 million passenger trips during summer peak
China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. reported that the country's railway network handled approximately 954 million passenger trips during a 62-day summer peak period.
Between July 1 and August 31, the national network also transported 680 million tons of freight. To manage the increased demand, the operator implemented a summer train schedule and utilized recently opened lines. During this period, an average of 11,623 passenger trains operated daily.
To support seasonal tourism and cultural activities, China Railway deployed 699 tourist trains, including 415 dedicated to organized tours, and 351 customized trains for specific events and exhibitions.
