China reports 4.6% revenue growth for large-scale cultural enterprises in H1 2026
The National Bureau of Statistics said that in the first half of 2026, China's large‑scale cultural and related‑industry enterprises generated 720.26 billion yuan in revenue, a 4.6% year‑on‑year increase. Core cultural sectors posted 504.72 billion yuan, up 5.5%, while cultural services contributed 432.35 billion yuan, rising 8.1% and accounting for 60% of total enterprise revenue.
Sixteen sub‑categories classified as "new cultural business" recorded 352.39 billion yuan in revenue, growing 9.6%—outpacing overall enterprise growth by 5 percentage points. Notable double‑digit gains were seen in digital publishing (+33.2%), copyright and cultural software services (+22.2%), entertainment‑drone manufacturing (+17.7%), internet advertising (+14.9%), other digital content (+12.1%) and other internet information services (+10.4%).
Statistical analyst Pan Xuhua attributed the steady rise to the implementation of policies promoting high‑quality cultural development, expanded consumption of cultural products and services, and strengthened support for cultural investment and asset management.
