China reports strong H1 export growth, electric vehicle shipments rise 68.7%
On July 14, 2026, the State Council Information Office held two press briefings on China’s first‑half import‑export performance. Customs deputy head Wang Jun presented the data, noting that overall exports grew by more than 10% and have maintained growth for eleven consecutive quarters.
Exports of electronic components, computer parts and AI‑integrated robotic systems posted double‑digit increases, contributing 6.9 percentage points to the overall rise. Green‑energy products saw robust demand: lithium‑ion batteries and wind‑turbine generators grew 37.6% and 35.6% respectively. Notably, electric vehicle exports surged 68.7%, while electric motorcycles and pedal‑assist bicycles increased 31.5% and 45.1%.
Special‑purpose equipment, ships and offshore engineering gear also expanded, with exports of 5,402.4 billion yuan and 2,149.9 billion yuan respectively, up 24.4% and 19.9%. The data underscore China’s role in supplying green‑technology and high‑tech products to over 90 countries amid global supply challenges.
