China reports rising imports and advances in green computing and grain procurement

China is experiencing significant developments across its trade, technology, and agricultural sectors. In foreign trade, imports have grown by 22 percent in the first seven months of the year, marking a five-month trend where import growth has outpaced exports. The country remains a major global buyer, with imports exceeding 100 trillion yuan in the first half of the year.

In the technology sector, China is advancing green computing initiatives. Reports from the 2026 Green Computing Power Conference indicate improvements in energy efficiency for computing devices and the expansion of green data centers, with over 160 centers receiving high-level green status.

Regarding food security, the China National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration reported that grain companies have purchased over 90 million tons of wheat across the country. Minimum purchase price policies are being implemented in provinces like Hunan and Changsha to protect farmers' interests and stabilize the market.

Additionally, the 21st Changchun Film Festival has commenced in Jilin Province, featuring 157 films competing for the Golden Deer Awards.
