China solar module exports rise 45% in September 2026

China’s solar module exports experienced a 45% month-on-month increase in September 2026, reaching approximately 22.13 GW. This rebound follows four months of subdued shipments, though cumulative exports for the first nine months of 2026 remain 12% lower than the same period in 2025.

The monthly recovery was largely driven by a surge in deliveries to the Middle East, where imports of Chinese modules rose 153% from August. Saudi Arabia accounted for roughly 2.45 GW of these shipments. Analysts from InfoLink Consulting suggest this spike may be due to the release of shipments previously delayed by shipping disruptions and high freight costs, noting that this increase may not represent a new baseline.

Beyond solar modules, China is seeing significant growth in other clean technology sectors. In the first nine months of 2026, exports of electric vehicles rose 61%, wind turbines increased by 45%, and battery exports grew by 39% compared to the previous year. A report by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) suggests these record clean tech exports could help avert approximately 450 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
