China solar wafer prices hold steady amid polysilicon stabilization

Chinese solar wafer prices remained stable this week, with M10 and 210R Free-On-Board (FOB) prices holding at $0.121/pc and $0.134/pc, respectively. The market is currently monitoring signs of stabilization in the upstream polysilicon sector.

This stabilization follows an August 7 joint initiative involving eight major Chinese polysilicon producers, who represent over 90% of the nation's capacity. These producers have pledged to adhere to strict energy-consumption standards and full-cost sales requirements to combat overcapacity and low-price competition. Under this initiative, manufacturers aim to follow standardized production-cost benchmarks established by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association and voluntarily phase out inefficient, energy-intensive capacity.

Reflecting improved sentiment regarding new orders, China Mono Premium polysilicon prices saw their first increase of 2026, rising 0.67% week on week to CNY32.100 ($4.76)/kg.
