China Space Station: Shenzhou 21 crew completes record mission

The Shenzhou 21 astronaut crew, consisting of Zhang Lu, Wu Fei, and Zhang Hongzhang, has successfully completed their mission at the China Space Station. Having resided in orbit for 210 days, the crew set a new record for the longest continuous stay by a single Chinese astronaut crew. During their mission, they conducted three extravehicular activities, installed space debris protection devices, and performed extensive scientific experiments in microgravity physics, materials science, and space medicine.

Following their successful landing at the Dongfeng Landing Site, the crew members were honored by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission. Zhang Lu received the Second-Class Aerospace Merit Medal, while Wu Fei and Zhang Hongzhang were awarded the title of ‘Heroic Astronaut’ and the Third-Class Aerospace Merit Medal.

Simultaneously, the Shenzhou 23 crew—comprising Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan, and Li Jiaying—has surpassed 80 days in orbit. This crew is currently conducting various scientific experiments, including EEG testing to study the effects of long-term spaceflight on brain function, bone metabolism research through blood sample analysis, and psychological assessments. They are also undergoing training in remote docking operations and emergency medical rescue procedures.
